Hello summer fun!
I wanted to take a few moments to let everyone know what’s going on with your fire department.
We want to remind everyone of a new program that went live on April 1st, called Community
Connect. Community Connect is a secure, easy to use platform that allows residents and
businesses in both Union Grove and Yorkville to share critical and lifesaving information about
your household or business that will assist our members when responding to an emergency at
your residence or business.
Residents can include medical conditions, medications, any special needs, emergency contacts
and pet information.
Both residential and commercial properties can include property information, hazmat
information, key box information, utility shut off locations and fire protection information, and
even designated family meeting places. You can attach pictures and include special notes or
other relevant data and information.
Please log into our site and create your account and enter your information. As much as you feel
comfortable doing. Once it’s complete, if we ever get a call to your address, an icon will appear
on the computer screen in our apparatus responding, we tap the icon, and your information
appears for our crew, and they can start reviewing it while they respond.
I know people can be reluctant to share information for fear of it being shared. Be assured that the
information you provide in Community Connect is 100% secure. All logins are protected with bank
level encryption and security. Your information is NEVER used for any other purpose. Sometimes
there are communication barriers or keyholders not onsite and this can save us critical time.

You can also find it on our website, www.ugyfd.com or our Facebook page!

Progress continues with the new fire station. Plans are being completed, surveys completed, DOT
plans are finalized and bid documents are being prepared. If everything stays on time, we plan to
break ground by the end of August.
Please have a great and safe summer!
